Sterile or Not? Here's How to detect - Melbourne, Infertility is not a medical condition whose
symptoms can be seen clearly. It was only felt when couples never have kids succeed,
keep trying though. So how do I detect it?
Dr Shae - Lee McArthur, researchers from the Department of Physiology,
Monash University explained that the answer depends on the age of the couple themselves.
And in medical, focused on the definition of the fertility of the wife's age.
" Women aged under 35 years cannot be said to be
infertile if contained within a period of 12 months after having unprotected
sex . , But for those over the age of 35 , the limit is six months , " he
said, as quoted by ABC Australia , Thursday ( 24/4 / 2014 ) .
And if after 12 months never no signs of pregnancy,
immediately consult with your obstetrician. From here the next you can also get
a referral to a fertility specialist.
The first thing you see is the doctor’s medical history mate.
For the wife, it includes information about previous pregnancies, the
regularity of the menstrual period, if the wife had experienced severe
menstrual pain, hip pain, infection or surgery.
While the questions asked doctors to husbands ranged on the
information whether they 've had children before , a history of testicular
injury or developmental disorders , a history of infection or surgery , and the
possibility of exposure to certain environmental factors husband or not .
" Then the doctor will ask the couple to undergo a
series of tests , the results of which may provide clues as to what is
experienced infertility couples , including being a handle to determine
appropriate treatment for them, " said McArthur
Some of the physical tests that need to be undertaken
couples ' allegedly ' barren among others:
1. The blood test
This is to ascertain whether the conditions associated with
hormone couples their chances of infertility.
In addition the doctor will perform other tests such as
checking the presence of rubella virus in the spouse 's body , blood type test
, sperm antibody test and test to find out if a spouse suffering from sexually
transmitted infections such as HIV , hepatitis B and C or not .
2. Ultrasound
Doctors need to perform this inspection to determine the
condition of the ovaries and uterus of the patient. Another aspect observed was
the production of egg cells, the thickness of the uterine lining (if thin is no
indication that the patient undergo hormonal disorder), presence or absence of
fibroids or polyps in the uterus, and the symptoms of endometriosis or ovarian
cysts inside the patient's body.
In certain cases, the doctor can perform laparoscopy to
identify whether patients have endometriosis (endometrial tissue in the uterus
grows elsewhere in the body) or blockage of the fallopian tubes.
3. Analysis of sperm
The husband then asked to collect samples of liquid cement
so the doctor can check the number and the ability to swim (motility) of the
sperm they produce and the presence or absence of antibodies in their sperm.
